Planning the Launch of Their 2025 Season at Winton's Potting Shed
Winton recently welcomed the management team from The Real Mary King’s Close, an award winning visitor attraction in Edinburgh’s Old Town. In 2024 they broke all previous records, welcoming over 282,000 visitors and were voted the UK’s favourite tourist attraction.
The Real Mary King’s Close is Edinburgh’s only preserved 17th century underground street, a historic warren buried beneath the Royal Mile. It was named the Best Visitor Attraction in the UK by Tripadvisor in its 2024 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
Here’s what their General Manager, Paul Nixon, had to say:
“Launching a new season is critical – get it right and set the tone for success; get it wrong, and it can feel like wading through treacle all year!
“Yesterday, I returned to my old hunting ground at Winton Castle with The Real Mary King’s Close Management Team to kick-off our 2025 season – and to check out their stunning Potting Shed next to the walled garden. WOW. Just WOW!
“From the signature Winton warm welcome to seamless IT (with significantly improved wi-fi since I was last there!), and a delicious working lunch, everything was perfectly in place for a productive day.
“We struck the ideal balance of work and motivation, finding a space that was close to Edinburgh (within 30 minutes) yet remote enough to disconnect from the city buzz and focus on what matters.”
Clear Objectives Set for the Year Ahead
“We set clear business objectives for the year ahead for The Real Mary King’s Close and launched our refreshed, warm welcome approach.
“We were shown round the castle and explored Winton’s new bedrooms, and did some team-building activities: some axe throwing (yes, really!) and a high-energy scavenger hunt.
“It was a fantastic, rewarding and high-impact day. Bring on the 2025 season!”
