Ogilvy Chalmers, the rural surveyors, letting agents and architects in Haddington had been working remotely since lockdown in late March so wanted to bring the team back together in Winton’s Walled Garden and Potting Shed events venue.
The Walled Garden is two acres of lawn and flower borders which are a riot of colour and interest throughout the year. The adjacent Potting Shed provides an indoor-outdoor events combo by day which also works well for after-hours entertaining. It’s a versatile, new events venue, offering excellent value for hosting relaxed business events, perfect for mixing work and play.
“We were keen to see colleagues after a long time spent working apart in our own homes,” says Francis Ogilvy who owns Ogilvy Chalmers.
“It was billed just as a catch-up without a strong agenda. Many items came up, notably what we should learn from the past few months and how to take the positive elements and bring them into future working methods.
“We chose to keep the event low key – a picnic lunch on straw bales covered with rugs. We moved under the tented cover when there was a danger of a splash of rain but preferred to be out in the open.”
Francis continues: “The picnic was no ordinary collection of ham and cheese sandwiches with a packet of crisps; more one of fine dining al fresco amongst the dahlias – in keeping with the stunning five-star setting of the walled garden. It suited our style just fine without the need for anything more!
“The picnic was much enjoyed and clearly appreciated for its touch of class. The setting likewise was thought to work well. We also went into the Potting Shed and held a meeting there.
“The conclusion was that it was a wonderful place to meet in a relaxed way. Perfect for the move back to office working.
“The garden setting and the Potting Shed conjures up a feeling of being at ease where jacket and tie would be out of place and where conversations can flow naturally.”
Winton’s Potting Shed offers the chance to meet and reunite with colleagues in a spacious, versatile venue in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. With two acres of gardens there is no issue with physical distancing.
The Potting Shed can be complemented by a gazebo or marquee and is provided for exclusive use, all yours with complete privacy as well as modern meeting facilities.
