Denholm Associates recently chose Winton Castle’s Walled Garden for their delayed annual reunion barbecue. The company have had an annual barbecue every year for their Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, except for 2020 due to the Pandemic. Denholm Associates use modern marketing to ‘do recruitment differently’.
This summer, after a year of working from home, Denholm Associates were looking for a new venue to do something special for their company awayday; they wanted to get their whole team together for a social gathering to relax and catch up, as well as introduce new team members to colleagues they had only met over Zoom.
Peter Gayford from FieldFireFork who provided the fire and barbecue, says:
“Winton’s Walled Garden is the perfect location for this type of event – offering privacy in a naturally stunning, relaxed setting. It allows guests to feel like the space is their own for the time they are there, and the event can range from formal to fully relaxed.
“From a caterer’s perspective, the facilities offered are fantastic, with the ability to use the on-site kitchen if required, and the Winton team are great to work with.”
FieldFireFork is a new mobile fire and barbecue catering company that brings together the special elements required for all great cooking experiences – fire, spectacle and passion. Using their unique barbecue trailer, ‘PuFFFing Billy’, the caterer’s ethos was forged from an appreciation of cooking in its rawest form, using just wood and charcoal.
Peter Gayford says: “We believe that in Scotland, we are blessed with some of the world’s very best produce.
“We value local provenance and work hard to develop relationships with farmers, gamekeepers, fishermen and artisan producers to bring together the very best of our local produce. Scotland has an abundance of incredible producers that share this unique and raw environment, allowing us to source and cook the best that Scotland has to offer with flavours from around the world, from India, the Middle East to the US and Scotland.
“FieldFireFork aim to take our clients on a culinary journey, from the ‘Field’ of some of Scotland’s finest primary producers, through to our traditional and elemental cooking method of ‘Fire’, to produce exciting and innovative flavours on your ‘Fork’.”
Douglas Cross from Denholm Associates says: “the food was amazing with everyone enjoying the variety of options including the gluten free and Halal.
“We spent all our time in the Walled Garden where Winton had put up an open-sided marquee on the lawn along with seating on hay bales. With us getting so lucky with the weather, we all stayed outside although the Potting Shed looked a great space if we had needed to go inside.
“The setting was fantastic. Sitting in the walled garden just along from the castle was very relaxing as well as feeling private.
“It was a great afternoon enjoyed by everyone. Winton even managed to organise the weather for us!”
