AGCO, US makers of agricultural equipment with a UK base in Kenilworth, recently held their annual sales conference at Winton Castle, a conference venue near Edinburgh.
More than 50 visitors from around the world attended the two day conference at the castle and took part in meetings, Highland Games, whisky tasting, a gala dinner and barbecue.
AGCO provide ‘high-tech solutions for professional farmers feeding the world’ in the ever-changing world of agriculture. Their global brands include Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Fendt and Challenger.
The visitors stayed overnight at Apex Hotels in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh, just half an hour from Winton Castle.
This case study is based on an interview with Sasha Martin, Sales Support Specialist.
Why did you chose Winton Castle?
“AGCO chose Winton Castle for our conference because we wanted a traditional Scottish venue which would provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We were keen for AGCO to experience a fabulous Highland Games and amazing food, all in a stunning location,” says Sasha.
“The guests were part of our European distribution network, representing 19 countries,” continues Sasha.
“The objective of the conference was to provide a relaxed yet informative conference without worrying about transitions after each session. We also wanted to give our guests the best possible Scottish experience.”
The gala dinner included a piper, address to the haggis and welcome by Winton’s owner, Sir Francis Ogilvy, whose family still lives in the caste.
What was the feedback from guests?
“The overall feedback was: ‘Wow! Amazing! Loved it!’” says Sasha.
Meskó Gábor, Product Manager at AGCO, commented: “Once again I would like to thank all of you for the Conference last week. Compared to the previous years’ conference, I would say it was the best. Dynamic, interactive, many interesting and useful subjects from AGCO presenters and many new faces from other countries. ….And the accommodation was simply breath taking.”
Did you achieve your conference objectives?
“It was a 100% success,” concludes Sasha Martin. “We will measure it by actions being followed up during 2017 according to colleagues’ business plans.”
