Leading the FanDuel ‘Clans’ into Battle at a Mini-Highland Games
FanDuel, the sports and gaming platform founded in Edinburgh, has gone to Winton Castle for their summer away days for many years and the venue always looks forward to their visits and sense of fun and enthusiasm.
“It’s always a delight when you can welcome clients back to the castle as though they were part of your extended family,” says Janis Ward from the events team.
“Having previously enjoyed our Laser Tag, the Mini-Highland Games won their hearts last year so much so that they wanted to run them again for a second year.
The visitors from FanDuel were divided up into ‘clans’. There was something for everyone with the clans enjoying everything from caber tossing and wheatsheaf pitching, to hay bale rolling and Highland dancing!
The finale was the mighty tug o’ war, the ultimate challenge, which brought out the competitive streak from the competing clans.
At FanDuel’s request the events venue was asked to throw in a nod to American football. Field goals were created and turned out to be immensely popular so are sure to make more appearances at future events.
FanDuel finished their day with a delicious rustic BBQ and hog roast with beers and specially created signature cocktails under canvas on the croquet lawn in front of the castle
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Winton Castle for creating special memories for FanDuel!”
Feedback from the Team at FanDuel
“Working with Janis and the team at Winton Castle has been an absolute pleasure. From planning to execution, everything went off without a hitch and could not have been easier. Our ideas for the event, whether conventional or unconventional and new, like creating an American football kicking area, was thoroughly thought out their end, and executed to perfection.
“The staff from top to bottom went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable, and most importantly, having a fantastic time.
“Having never been to Winton Castle personally prior to the event, I was floored by the beauty of the place. The castle itself is astonishing and the grounds are flawless. Winton’s team welcoming our employees with bagpipes was the perfect touch and created a sense of excitement the moment we got off the bus.
“While the castle and the grounds create a beautiful ambience to any event and party, the staff are what really set the location apart.
“Our event focused on the Mini-Highland Games. Everything was set up, ready to go, and explained with the utmost passion and professionalism by the lovely Winton team. Seeing these games come to fruition was the highlight of my day as well as for most of FanDuel. It was a fun and engaging way for our employees to relax and have fun outside the office.”
Even Throwing in Some American Culture
“It was also an entertaining way to incorporate a bit of American culture with an American football style field goal set up. It may have had the longest line of any activation and despite having to learn on the go, was filled with laughs.
“While the weather didn’t hold up, Winton Castle had a plan for everything, and a large marquee housed us for wonderful food and drinks which everyone enjoyed. From the pig roast to the cocktails, we have received rave reviews about everything.
“My colleagues only spoke with the highest regard about the event. From the people they met at the castle, to the Highland Games and the food and drink, it’s safe to say they are already excited about next year’s summer party!
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Winton Castle for creating special memories for FanDuel!”
